You're probably used to Naim's speaker connectors. The binding posts on Bryston (and pretty much everything else, except Linn) unscrew a bit but don't come off. They unscrew a bit to allow spade lugs or bare wire - insert the bare wire through the hole that runs perpendicular to the shaft, then tighten the binding post back down. To use spades, unscrew the post a bit, fit the spade against the back, the tighten the post. For banana plugs, remove the plug from the center of the post (if you're looking at it straight on), and push the banana plug it.
Bare wire and spades offer better contact than bananas in my experience. I use spades because the clapm down pretty good and keep everything tidy.
