:thumb: Totally agree!  I have several dozen tubes but that includes my stash of tuner tubes, small signal tubes, power tubes, and rectifier tubes.  Plus the few oddball tubes.  I would double it if I had the money right now.

Wow, thought I was a little deranged with aprox. 50 12___ signal tube variants, now I don't feel so bad.

Especially as I plan to buy more Mullards as spares for my phono pre, the Teles I got just aren't working for me.

One full set. That's it. that's all. Apparently there is something terribly wrong with me... :?

Probably 50 or 60 brand new, NOS and used.
Stuff accumulates over the years but I don't really go out of my way to snatch them up.
However, it's always good to have a few spares kicking around just in case.

An insane number and probably half of them don't fit in any equipment I have now.  I do have 42 pairs of excellent-pretty good Raytheon 6SN7GTs and about 10 prs. Sylvania 6SN7Ws.  I have 3 pieces of equipment that use these.  I also have 6 quads of GE 6550As.  However, I have recently fallen in love with the very inexpensive Chinese (Shuggie)  GEKT88 solid plates sold by www.goodcomponent.com in China for about $60/pair.  I am very enthusiastic about these tubes.  My other useable stock is mostly 5687, 6DJ8, 12AX7 and 5751, plus a ton of tubes that are or close subs to the 12AZ7 (7062, 6414, 5965), plus more 12BH7s and 12AT7s than I'll ever need.  The only tube I have no replacement for are some Gold Lion KT-66, which I use in a Class A PP-triode amp (12W), along with all the 6550s and KT88s I have.

At least 2 backup sets for each configuration I own and then if I sell a piece that takes a tube type and I'll no longer need that type anymore I ship them all to the new owner so he can have some instant fun!!!!! :thumb:

But i think i'll buy a set or two to get started.  Maybe a set of re-issued Gold lion KT88s because i fancy the 'look', And i'm eager to play with different combinations of 12AU7 and AX7s.

I have more than I need, but not as many as I would like.   8)

I am a big fan of the Shuguang KT88 Solid Plate.  Are the ones you get pretty much the same as the Penta KT88SC sold here stateside? (Ithink they may be).  Kevin Deal also sells the Solid Plate for 50.00 each tested.

In fact, I prefer the Shuguang KT88 to any 6550 now, NOS or current (Solid Plate, Black Treasures, Canada Fuller?)
