Greetings everyone,
New Bryston owner, migrating over from Naim.  I greatly enjoy Naim gear, but a home audition of the BDA-1 started me down the Bryston road.  On the Naim forums, a great community BTW, they keep a thread like this one-"system pics"-running.  It's very helpful to see both setup pics along with system info/details. 

I see the "picture food" thread that has all kinds of fun stuff of it, including gear.  Both for the newbies, and the experienced, lots of system images+details can be very helpful for all.  Ideas for balanced setup options, and upgrades.  And, lets face it, its great fun to look (and drool) at!

I'm still in the process of putting together my Bryston system.  Could some of the forum veterans kick off this thread and get things going?

- Use Dynavector ADP-3 to enhance any inherent ambient "vibes" in the music
- System runs fully balanced (including cartridge/phono amp)
- Tv monitor has acoustical shield that is down when not viewing music DVD's (which is basically all I watch on it)

Interesting, I'm just about to start a new career in HiFi sales with the likes of Bryston, Naim, Linn and Meridian and the manager is a massive Naim fan and reckons it won't take long for me to change to the green side, can't wait to tell him you are going the other way

Good luck with your new job.   So many of the hi-end audio stores have been closing.  Hopefully your store is doing well. 

I haven't gone through any "official" Naim-Bryston conversion     I've enjoyed wonderful music with my Naim set-up for several years.  It's a great company and there is a fantastic community of world-wide Naim users.  The upgrade path is great fun.  Carefully chosen upgrades can breath new life into an audio system over several years.   For example, I started with "entry level" Naim CDP and integrated.  One listen to the next step up lead to an obvious upgrade.  Adding an external power-supply brought things to yet another level.  Naim is definitely a company that takes a system approach to putting things together.  From my experience, this approach works. 

The BDA-1 raised my level of musical enjoyment so high, that I just couldn't help taking a closer look at Bryston in general.  I owned a medium-high level Naim CDP+PS (CD5x/FC2x) that I have since sold.  I greatly prefer the BDA-1.

Vipers, after i bought my bp-26 an 4bsst 2 i talked to J Tanner and he told me it was not a good idea to stack the preamp and power supply due to a higher noise level

Not so it matters. There is a very slight mesured difference if the BP26 is on top of the MPS2 as opposed to the other way around.   Separating them on a separate shelf does not measure any better than the MPS2 being on top.

Thanks headshrinker2, it's definitely a brave new venture for the investors involved as it's a very tough world out there at the moment so fingers crossed it works out OK.

I have to agree, before I bought the BDA-1, even though I had a 4B SST2, I was quite keen to demo other Dacs before jumping 100% into bed with Bryston so I compared the BDA-1 to the Naim Dac, Cambridge Audio's DacMagic and the highly regarded Weiss Dac and for me I was totally won over by the BDA-1, it just seemed to reveal more detail and gave more insight into the recording which I found more immersive compared to the other Dacs, that was it for me, I was a Bryston convert

I may have liked the Naim DAC, but never had the opportunity to demo.  Thank goodness I don't have a Naim dealer in my town that carries good stock. I'd be penniless... but my ears would be in heaven.  Unfortunately, my local Bryston dealer recently had to close his shop. 

I was never a Naim "fan-boy", but I did appreciate their systems approach.  Relatively easy to piece together a well-balanced system. Lots of opportunities for upgrade. Naim stuff tends to work very well with other Naim stuff- right down to the cabling and speaker wire.  Not cheap, but it makes things a bit easier. 

Auditioning the BDA-1 was not something I was planning on doing.  I'm so glad I did, because it opened my ears to a different sonic signature.  As a guy who listens to a lot of jazz/classical/vocal/instrumental music, I found something new (to me) that I really loved.   I'm not a user that needs to keep everything within a single brand family- I just wanted my system to sound great.  As you may have seen from my recent posts, I am in the processing of auditioning and comparing some additional Bryston gear to my existing Naim set-up.   I won't be keeping everything.

Have you lined up a demo of the BDP-1 yet? I can't recommend it highly enough, for me it was a real game changer and as you've already got the BDA-1 then it's surely the next logical step, after you've had a chance to play with your B100 of course

Based on the concept and reviews, it is highly likely that I will like the BDP-1.  With no Bryston dealer in my area, a demo- let alone a home demo- will be challenging.  The BDP-1 has not hit the used market yet.  A good sign!
