Weird, I just read on another thread this was being released soon, and here's another thread about it, must be a sign. Always liked this album when I was young. Unfortunately my copy was on cassette and I threw all those out over a year ago.

May have to preorder this.

In the early 70's when I worked in a stereo/camera store we used T for the T to sell a helluva lot of DQ-10s, so much so I couldn't stand to hear it again, but never threw the LP away.

Now with this thread I've pulled out my copy, found it in better than expected shape, and am spinning it. WOW! details the likes of which I don't remember at all.

Maggie 1.6/Rogue 66 Magnum/SOTA Sapphire with ETs arm, Moscode 300 Maxi amp.

In the winter 1986 issue of TAS Mikey compared various pressings of "Tea";
the "pink" and the "blue sun ray" Island, the MoFi, the MoFi UHQR and the
US A&M - btw, he denoted the original US A&M release as a "sonic dud" ...

I'm curious about his review of this 200g clarity vinyl pressing because the
two track miix down is 41 years old.

The helluva it is, just last week I sold my stacked double pair of DQ-10s. Regretting it already, but now I can lurk for new(er) DQ-10s on CL!

Mine were pretty beat up from so many moves, teenagers, cats, etc.

What means "LH in the dead wax.....?"

Sterling rematered LH
SterlingLH in deadwaxRemastered and sounds better according to Googled info
My Lp does not have a sterling mark on deadwax.

A good friend of mine is friends with Chad at acoustic sounds and has toured the new pressing plant. Chad has spared no expense to build the most modern facility with the priority given at the onset to sound quality.
I'm looking forward to their pressings.

Sorry! LH is Lee Hulko, the original engineer at Sterling. The link I provided has some interesting info on Sterling that I never knew.

God, who cares about Tea for the Tillerman? Chad's spent all this money on this awesome record production facility and we get this?

When will someone in the audio industry wakes up and realizes that we will NEVER get anyone under 50 interested in audio, producing this stuff.

I'm sure it will sound great, but so what? How about using this level of care to produce some records we DON'T have 10 pressings of?

Ugh....

Picked up a sterling in deadwax Tea today.
Deadwax is the space between the label and the end of the recorded grooves.
The space has several marks in it.
The stamper number, the serial number or record company catalog number, sometime a sound master (like Sterling) folks initials, sometimes words scribbled into the stamper. Sometimes the pressing plant, and for Japanese pressings, the J if it is an official japanese pressing.

Though I empathize with your point - how do we get the under 50 crowd to buy vinyl - I don't think the fact TftT is being pressed in a nice, new master is the issue. Chad can only press what will sell. The under 50 crowd you seem to yearn for don't seem to get the value of well made vinyl, an idea that has been beaten to death in umpteen articles and online forums over the past decade, so I wont go into them here. Plus I know you know that's the case.

Unless the industry can come up with some sort of 'outreach' program to show these youngsters the value of good vinyl over iTunes downloads, nothing changes.

Not sure why Chad is to blame for that.

As a solidly under 50 fella, I would agree that some other pressings of more recently released vinyl would be great. But I am just fine with Tea for the Tillerman being the first release. For one main reason: the number of pressing that precede it that this pressing can be compared to. If this company's set up is as great as they claim, having an album that could be highly praised for its advances over earlier pressings, this label gets on the audiophile map. Raves over a known quantity that can be compared to other known quantities is proof of concept. Grabbing the younger crowd may take a different recording. But new Tea is a great way to generate buzz.

As for grabbing the younger crowd, a Fleet Foxes or Radiohead pressing would be most welcome. A bit less mainstream (to say the least), I dream of Boris and Sunn 0)))...
