Nothing in particular
« on: 4 May 2011, 10:14 pm »
Greetings to all.
I haven't posted here before, as getting registered on this forum is a PITA for old blind guys.
But today I got it figured out, so I decided to add my two cents, whether anyone is interested or not.
I bought a Khartago SE and Stratos SE from Klaus about a year ago.
Yes, it took some time, as this was shortly after the Valin review.
However, it was worth the wait. After a fairly substantial break-in (>100 hours), these amps stopped acting crazy, and came alive, and in the past year have entertained me with some of the richest listening experiences I have ever had at home.
Using the Stratos as the bottom for my 3-ways, and the Stratos for the mids, my open baffle home-brews truly sing, handling anything from any source with a totally controlled but relaxed authority. It is not often that one can forget that he is listening to recorded, rather than live music, but it happens in my house all the time.
I recently sent my Stratos to Klaus for a mono conversion and purchase of another matching Stratos, and am now waiting like a blushing virgin with damp britches for my first ride. I know that I am exhibiting obsessive pursuit of the final 5%, but I don't care, even though my wife may.
Thank you, Klaus, for providing products that would be underpriced at ten times what you are charging.

Klaus, you magnificent bastard:
I just received my Stratos Monos today.
Out of the box, the sound is remarkable.  I thought I had it good before, but this is just beyond compare. If the sound is going to dramatically improve with break-in, as it did last time around, I'm going to be at a loss to find suitable hyperbole without wetting my pants.
As an aside, anyone who has had complaints about Klaus, his business practices, Odyssey Audio products, or any related aspects, must be living in a parallel universe, or maybe has shit for brains. It is exceedingly rare in this day and age to find people who demonstrate the kind of integrety in business which Klaus exudes daily.
