Quite simply, these are the best solid state amps I have ever used or ever heard. I am selling them only because I have gone to speakers that are extremely efficient and no longer need the awesome power of the Samsons (rated at 300 watts per amp).

 I considered the Samsons a lifetime purchase when I bought them a couple of years ago, and they are every bit as good as you will read or have read already in the forums (there seems to be more written about them at Audiogon than anywhere else I've seen). .Of course, they are a perfect match with the TRL Dude preamp, but I also ran them with a couple of other high quality preamps, and they were tremendous with those as well. They really do not have any of the usual solid state "nasties," and are among the most purely musical pieces of audio gear I have ever had in my system.

They are in superb condition both sonically and cosmetically, and I have the original crate they were shipped in. I am the original owner.These go for $5500 direct from TRL, and there is usually a wait of several months to get them. You do not see them come up very often for good reason, and I have mine priced to sell quickly.

You can pick them up, or I am willing to drive up to a hundred miles in any direction from Asheville, NC. They are very sturdy and well packed, so shipping shouldn't be any problem at all, if needed.I can take Paypal, if the buyer pays the fee. Money orders or cashier checks are also fine. I will take a personal check, but it must clear before the amps are shipped.

These are great amps guys.  300 into 8 and over 500 into 4 ohms.  Built like tanks.  Smooth and do not get hot.

My pair are coming end of next week otherwise I would buy these.  $5500 new and about a 6 week wait for new ones.

The Weitzel brothers remind me a lot of the Salk organization - open, honest, no frills that artificially inflate the price, and they stand behind their products.

If you're in Charlotte, you ought to hop in the car and drive up for an audition. We're less than three hours away, near Asheville.

To answer your question, I am clipping a quote from Audiogon, which sums it up better than I can:

"The design is biased Class A up to a certain point, then A/B. Another tidbit that I discovered is that from a current draw this amp design is incredibly efficient. The capacitance within the amp also factors in an immense storage capacity for reserve power when required. That in part is why I think many can equate the sound of this amp to a live experience. Yeah, Paul is notoriously protective of his designs, but these amps are the real deal, whatever the specs, and they'll drive anything.

As for specs, I used to own the D-225 which was a predecessor to the Samson's. Class A up to 10 watts, then AB. Input impedance 67k ohm. Sensitivity .8V. JFET input, bipolar transistors for the output, one per channel. No fuses, uses a breaker switch.

JT, I also have the contact info for Mr. Gear if you wanted to discuss the amps with him as well as Mr. Cox.  As soon as the plater gets the panels anodized my amps are ready to go.  They have been completed and burning in awaiting the case work.  I'm a little excited.
