Storm Roll Call
« on: 23 Apr 2011, 01:21 pm »
Just checking in on to make sure everyone is OK.

For those not in the St. Louis area - major tornados.  The St. Louis airport is heavily damaged and closed indefinitely.  Interstate 270 (main loop bypass around St. Louis) had all lanes closed due to power lines across the interstate.  Major damage in several communities over approx 50 mile long swath of the storm.  Several churches damaged during Good Friday services.  Thankfully, at this point, no known critical injuries or casualties.

Scott's daughter had a tree on her house - very lucky considering what the rest of her neighborhood looks like.

I know Randy is in Warrenton and Bob is in House Springs which was in the path between Pacific and Waterloo.

Stop in and let us know what's up and if anyone needs help.

We went to the basement with the cats. Small hail and lots of rain but no damage.  Worried about Chris Hoff after seeing the damage in New Melle. That tornado had to go right over his neighborhood.

All good in St. Charles.  I was at Mid-Rivers mall and they herded us all into the JC Penny window coverings department.  Irony?

If you are watching Channel 4, the flattened house that Robbin Smith is reporting from is three up from my daughters. The house next to it is my son in laws grandparents. It's pretty ugly over there. I'm waiting to hear back from her letting me know what she needs me to do. From the sound of it, later today we'll be cutting up all the trees that are down, getting the tree off her house and sealing up the hole(s) and helping out with general clean up of the neighborhood.

Praise be to God that nobody was hurt, just property damage.

Will keep your family in our thoughts. Glad to hear no one was hurt, which judging by the pictures I'm seeing, is pretty amazing. We dodged a bullet (so far) here in SoCo.  :(

No problem here in House Springs ... of course the worry still remains that if we see the forecasted 6+ inches of rain over the next 2-3 days that Heads Creek will turn our houses into islands.  The creek is moving along pretty good right now.

Sorry about your daughters house Scott, but glad it's not worse.  I'm pretty good with the chainsaw, let me know if you need any help.

My Uncle was trying to get me to go chasing with him last night, no way I said.  You don't chase rain wrapped tornadoes at night, and you don't chase in the city.  There's plenty more frisky weather on the way the next couple days, so everybody stay alert.

All ok in my part of St Peters. Adrian Walker posted on Fb that he is fine but no power. He lives just east of the airport.

Glad to hear everyone is all right.  We saw one storm go south and the other north of us.  No problems in the Ballwin area.  Kent

We are fine in Mehlville. It has been an eventful couple of days, and I'll be having fun Monday, as we will need to get our rad waste site immediately north of the airport back to its customary good shape.

Safe and all's well here.

Oddly enough, my family and I spent the better part of last night at a friends birthday party on Lindbergh, north of 270. While we watched the (ultra) nasty stuff outside, we also watched as the dark burgandy areas on the bars televisions radar loomed over our exact position, and the position of our houses in JeffCo. (most of us live by me in JeffCo.)

The 40 mile drive south was rather interesting as 270 and 70 were both closed near Lambert. Ended up having to take the 'scenic' route home.

Got home at 12:00, and had to arrive at work not long after. That sucked, especially after a night of draft beer, pizza and wings.  :duh:

Everything is fine in my neck of the woods.  Scott sorry to hear about your daughter's house, but glad everyone is alright. It was a very nasty storm.

The Southern IL GAS chapter is doing alright. I'm glad to hear that nobody was hurt up your way, and especially that Scott's family escaped calamity. Scott I hope you find good use for all that wood. Down here, we're always on the look out for materials.

BTW, we're getting hit again tonight. Lots and lots of water, wind and lightning. Even my tubes are nervous, so I unplugged them. Take care everybody. Din :o

No damage here. Wasn't aware of the situation until I stopped for gas at the small station close to home. While I was filling up, the clerk inside walked out and staired at the sky, "What you lookin' for? I asked." He said a tornado was just sighted nearby. Only had half a tank but decided, that was enough--time to go. Glad everyone is OK.

Hey everybody!! I hope that you all made it through the storm safely. Scott, I'm sorry to hear what's happened, but glad that no one got hurt. Tim, thanks for reporting for me. My power was restored on Sat. morning at about 9:15. The immediate neighborhood looks fine. However, just a few blocks away there is massive damage. I feel so incredibly blessed. Let's hope we all make it through the next fews days ok.

Wow... what a week for us... my daughter got a nasty flu last Sunday which caused her to vomit 26 times in 3 days... then fever.... then my son got a lesser flu "only vomited 6 times and then fever" then my daughter turned 6 on Thursday... then the crazy weather... then a wedding on Saturday... then Easter...

damn I'm glad it's almost Monday!!!!1

And I am so thankful that none of us were injured as stuff can be replaced...

I'm in Maryland Heights, and I was following the storm on TV in the basement while working on my Lenco turntable project. At 8pm, the house shook, the air pressure changed noticeably, and the power went out.

Looking around the next morning, no damage to my house, but lots of uprooted and broken trees everywhere. Severe damage only about a mile away a little north and east, too close for comfort!

Yep, the Lenco is coming along nicely. Can't wait to hear it and then report on it!
