Skynet became self aware at 2:14 am Eastern Time on August 29th, 1997.

The original movie went a long way toward making AHnold what he is today.

I think they, The Machines, saw into one 'future', and decided to take a more subtle course...get us totally dependent on them, and then turn the tables. Its just less messy, no blood and gore, just a soft whimp as The HuMans slip into secondary status behind The Machines. The Created becomes the Master.
And then the transformation will begin as we will all be cyborgs traveling through space in a giant Cube. One Mind, One purpose.
