Wayne, a tough thing to handle. Stay strong and keep the faith. All you can do you did. She is in good hands where she is. Not suffering.
Your Mom is in our prayers.

Deepest sympathies Wayne. Sadly it is something that has touched many of us, either directly in our family or thru our friends. As you note, it is an insidious disease, stealing one's mind a piece at a time. Cherish the good memories, may they give you strength thru the times ahead, and may that strength help her with what she is feeling.

I don't really know what to say or to add to the posts above except that you and your Mom will be our prayers. It is tragic and my Mom had this and I had to try and deal with it from overseas (she was in Oklahoma and I am in the UK). I wish I could have visited with her face to face even though she would not have known who I was. A very tough time. Take care of yourself and know people out there are thinking of you!!!

Let's keep drinking the chemicals in the water supply, the air, the junk food, you are what you eat, and breathe.  Modern society has done itself in.  Antibiotics made people live longer, so we fill the air and water with chemicals the body can't deal with, thus all kinds of modern diseases.  Nature always wins. solve one thing create 3 more problems. We live longer, and then get all kinds of problems that didn't exist 100 years ago.

Keep in mind that the life expectency is longer now than in the 1800's. All those diseases existed centuries ago, we just didn't know what they were.

I have now fixed my post, sorry about the bad word. I hope every one can fix their posts.'

Wayne - I've deleted and re-entered my first (flippant) post after reading further.

My deepest sympathies.  We went through something similar with our Mom that was "officially" diagnosed  as either multiinfarct (sp?) dementia or post-polio syndrome.  It was a very depressing thing to watch unfold.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My mom died of alzheimers last March.  I was the primary caregiver.  It sucked beyond belief.

The 2 things that helped most was 36-hour day, and posting on the Alzheimers Association message board.

My brother-in-law has Alzheimers, is 60 and now in a nursing home. Doesn't recognize anyone, has to fed and cared for. He first started showing symptoms about 6 or 7 years ago. Sad.

My Mom has had dimentia for the past 5 years. She passed the 1/2 way point of good to bad days in the last 12 months. She still recognizes our immediate family though, thank the maker. Having just assembled a rockin' new computer I uploaded all my pix from the old HD. When I saw pix of my mother from only 4 years ago I was struck by how much her face has changed.

I have to get all our video tapes transfered to dvd so my children and nephew will remember her the way she was before her mind took a wrong turn. :?

GOD BLESS!

Sorry to hear the news Wayne. My grandfather just past away this week and we are not sure if he knew who everyone was that was with him in the hospital the past months or so. It was mentioned that he may have also been in early dimentia. I like to beleive he was aware we were all there for him.
I feel for you and with you. Be strong, memories can never die.
