SB3 analog out problem....
« on: 17 Apr 2011, 10:37 pm »
All of a sudden today the output of my SB3 stopped working... :(
I have tried different sources including another SB3 and the rest of the system works fine.
If I turn the volume all the way up I can hear the music very faintly.
Any suggestions on what the problem could be??

I have done the "factory reset" and the "xlinx" reset as well but still no go.
One thing I noticed is that the SB's volume contol has no effect on what faint
sound that I can hear....
Still looking....

Unplug SB3 from power or a few minutes, then power up. Download/reload latest version of Squeezecenter--check your SB3 for any firmware updates.

I have powered down while doing the factory reset and my server is at 7.5.3.
I don't think it's a server issue because my other SB3 works as well as softsqueeze on my main PC.

I have been using SB3's for over 5 years now, and have never had this specific issue.

Wish I could help, but I am stumped.

I assume you have tried moving the unit to a different system, and or wiring it by ethernet, and nothing improves?

Hi Mark... I have not tried the problem unit in another system but have used a second SB3 in the same system with no problems.
The  problem SB has a wireless signal strength of 75-78%.
All functions work properly just very low output...

As an update I just got a Grant Fidelity tube dac and connected it to the digital out of the SB3 and it woks fine.
So the problem is just with the analog outs...
Still looking for the problem....

So I did a clean install of my server and lo and behold everything is back to
normal!!
I'm still not sure what the problem was but it's all good now   :thumb:
