Has Sony abandoned SACD in the lower end?

I remember that when SACD was launched Sony had several really cheap models, including CD/SACD changers. Now I don't see any such critter. Now I'm not noticing any SACD player under about $250- am I missing some models? It also seem all their SACD players are DVD players. Is that the case?

i was looking at the sony dvp-nc685v earlier. i see it for $199.50 at avbdirect.com had you known about this one?

Yeah, didn't notice that one. My thinking is that if I could still get a cheaper Sony CD/SACD carousel that would be nice to replace my current one. As I stated in another thread, to keep domestic tranquility I have to keep a changer in the system for everyone else!

For this purpose I wouldn't spend a lot of coin.

It seems like all the players now are DVD/SACD instead of CD/SACD...

Rob that's exactly why I have a fondness for my Sony SCD-CE775. Its been very reliable and sounds very good for the price. I have debated about modding it.

Not vaporware since these new models were announced only last months. Not sure when they will be introduced yet.
