Popping Noise
«
on:

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of a popping noise that goes through my system either when the refrigerator turns on or off as well as when I turn my turntable on or off. I have my system on a dedicated circuit so I am a little confused. Although now that I think about it the turntable ac cord is not in that circuit. Could that be the cause?
Thanks,
Mark

May be caused by a ground-loop. Try to eliminate as many grounds as possible. Use passive transformer linestage to isolate sources from amps.

System consists of a Sonic Frontiers SFC-1 integrated amp, Ah! cd, Rega Turntable, and Sonus Faber Concerto Home speakers. Not sure what passive transformer linestage is.

I have lost track of who wrote the following note on furnace and refrigerator popping.
Snubber Capacitors
While I'm a strong proponent of power conditioners for A/V applications.
But if the issue you want to address is simply that 'popping' and it is from your furnace motor, you'd best be served by addressing it at the source, by snubbing your furnace motor/relay directly.
Such as the Mallory/CDE QuenchArc snubbers -
