A great Malaysia Formula 1 race today.
« on: 10 Apr 2011, 10:59 pm »
After only two races into the current F1 season, it's been extremely exciting.  No doubt a large part of the excitement is due to the new regulations and tires.  I hope the drivers and team championship standings remain close until the end, like last year when five drivers had a chance to win it all with two races remaining.

I thought it was a very exciting race as well. Not sure what happened to Hamilton, bad tires perhaps? It was good to see McLaren at least close to RBR this time.

Yes, he had a bad set of the harder tires which degraded faster than expected.

I stayed up til 6am est to watch Vettel win his 2nd straight race. Watching those monsoon looking clouds in the background reminded me of the 2 years I spend in Vietnam. Gawd I hate that hot humid weather and it took it's toll on a few cars during the race. I particularly liked those incar camera shots during the race. It was good hard racing.  :thumb:

If it rained it would have been an awesome race.

Not a bad race all in all.

Seems the RBR mobile front wings system was discovered, there is rumous all the car front nozzle are mobile, and with the wind pressure the nozzle/wigs lower to the ground.

Also McLaren discover it, and are using this system in his cars.

Robin,

I was going to tape the race and go to sleep, but decided to watch a few minutes of the start.  Well, I ended staying up till the end 'cus it was too exciting to shut the TV off.   :D  I'm going to watch the tape as I'm sure I missed some of the action.  As a former racer, I'm amaze at the car control these F1 drivers have, but they are the best at what they do.  The Chinese GP in a week, can't wait.  I'm rooting for Renault to up the ante and find another 1/2 second per lap in the next race.

Cheers,
Paul

The technology F/1 has in their cars/pits/tv coverage is mind blowing and it really puts NASCAR to shame. I've never really covered F/1 that much, let alone watch the first 2 races of the year but seeing all that goes on with these cars has me wanting to see the next race. The fact that most of the races are late night for this USA East Coaster is also great as I'm usually up til the rooster crows anyways. Gonna have to bookmark the Formula One homepage.  8)
