power handling & max spl
« on: 10 Apr 2011, 02:35 pm »
I couldn't find any power numbers for the 130 & 130/16 drivers.  I am interested in setting up a pair as mtm from about 75 HZ on up.

As long as you are feeding them clean power and not clipping your amp then there is no concern for power handling.

Lets face it, it really is just an over simplified guess used for nothing more than marketing.

I have been selling those drivers since 1996 and have never had a power handling related failure.

One of our industry friends, Ed Schilling uses a single driver rated at 15 w nominal, and I've driven a pair with up to 225 of amp at very loud levels without a failure.  My program interpolated numbers of about 13 w each and a max spl of 104 for the pair. That seemed a bit low.  In a real room environment playing music, I am sure they do just fine.
