Bryston 6BST or 6BSST

Hi

I can purchase either brand new but here in Australia the price difference between the 6BST (one available still) and the 6BSST is US$1500; is the 6BSST worth the extra money?

Sorry it took so long to answer - I did not notice the post.
The 6B SST has a slightly different power supply and cosmetics. That is the only difference.

The only difference between the ST and the SST series is the power supply and cosmetics?

Does this apply in general or is this only true for the 3 channel model?

The 6B is only available as a 3 channel amp.

James, I am surprised too. I understand there are big differences between the two series, main ones being a different output stage and more capacitance in the SST amplifiers.

I would have guessed that as well. I did a side by side of the 4bst and the 4bsst. The sst was much smoother and refined

OK - understand now.

The 14B ST and the 6B ST were the first of the SST Series we produced. We originally called these 2 models ST. We released them without saying we had made any changes in the curent ST designs. The reaction to these new amps was to say the least 'over the moon' so we very quickly started designing that same technology into all the other ST amps.
We then introduced all of the new amplifiers as SST.

I'll just say that my BP-20 / 4BSST combo is wonderful
