latest stereophile offer
« on: 30 Mar 2011, 02:42 am »
Had a call from the stereophile subscription hotline offering me a $24 renewal fee for 24 months,, thats $1 an issue folks.  When I said no,, that I had some philosophical issues with the content of the magazine the caller wanted to negotiate the price..Yeah,, I've got issues the with the magazine,, hardly a negative review, the love affair they have with select equipment brands which are reviewed,, it seems, every other issue...  But the deal-breaker for me is the lack of recognition of any model speaker in the VSA product line..  Yet another snub in the latest "recommended" current issue..  Not sure what kind of relationship Albert has with stereophile,, if there had been requests for review models?  Very odd to dismiss a popular equipment line in total by not listing VSA in "Recommended" with the exception of stereophile accepting advertising money for promotion of the VR33....  I'll not spend another dime on Stereophile until they do..

Amen from this VSA owner.  I have gone round and round with Atkinson and Tellig trading PMs with these clowns over the years.  They hate me....but it's mutual.  It's pretty much a worthless rag as is, IMO, Absolute Sound.  JV keeps me from embracing anything in their pages.  So what was the final per issue number...10 cents?  If over that...too much

It's not just VSA and it's not just Atkinson and Telig.  It's also the self-proclaimed guru Fremer.  It's the elitist "it's just not expensive enough to get our attention or make our list" attitude.

Was just checking out the VSAO circle.  You guys really get it.  The current audio rags are worthless.  They are shills for their advertisers.  They should be writing about important trends and innovations in audio.  But then again, they wouldn't understand them.

Too much collusion...accommodation pricing, "loaned" equipment and Lord knows what else under the table.  It's quite a racket.
