Transporter lost something when I hooked up Duet on same network

I had a stand alone two channel system fed by a  Modwright Transporter (sounded awesome)....then I  added a Duet  on a complete separate system(on the same wireless network) to power speakers on my deck and kitchen. Now my two channel system sounds like a veil was added....volume is way off...lost huge amounts of detail lost. I did a factory reset on the TP...still very weak.

Anybody have any ideas? I have an electrician coming next week to take everything off wireless and put it on ethernet. I have wanted to do that for a while..and I know it is better...I am concerned it won't fix my problem....as I have been wireless for a while and never experienced this muddy veil.

Try unplugging the Duet's power supply from the wall outlet.

The small switching supply might be adding enough noise to your AC power to cause a problem.

I don't think that is it...as I have a Parts Express power supply modded by you. I may still try and unplug the Duet. I did improve the sound a bit by changing some settings to do with syning the two units.

It just seems like I have to push the volume knob a little to acquire the same volume...maybe in my head....but my ultimate gauge is at what point my wife asks me to turn it down a little....moved from the 9 o clock to the 1030.

Is the digital volume control on the Transporter still the same, or has it been changed?  Try changing the volume level on the Transporter to ensure this isn't the problem.

Yeh..that was my first thought...checked with the controller and in squeezecenter...that is  exactly what it sounded like.

Still trying stuff..have posted on slimdevices forum and have a few things to try.

Thanks to all.

Have you disconnected the DUET and tried it back the way it was or did I miss something above??

That is next....I kind of hope that doesn't work...as I love having unlimited music on my deck in the evenings during the summer.

Lasy night after listening...seemed like some of the detail returned...still down a little on volume. Do you think it is possible my system is settling in to the new set up...or am I getting use to it? :duh:

Both---I'd disconnect it and see what you hear after, let us know.

Ok I am back to where I started!!

I unhookrd the Duet. I did a Xilinx reset...then a factory reset....bingo.

I am not sure what did it...but I am happy to be back to where I started.

Now my next step is to add the Duet back. I may run ethernet cable this time though.

I really don't think adding the Duet did it but I've seen stranger stuff. Wired is the best way to go....I see no advantage to wireless unless you have no choice because of construction, because all they do is drop out at the most unconvenient times..think great Christmas party, you got a nice buzz and it drops out and your thrown into wireless hell while everyone stands around telling you what uncle hal did when the old radio they had gave out---LOL....and the happening looking woman you've been chatting up all night gets hit on by Tad while your away and he's winning!!!

I run mine wired and still get dropouts sometimes when power goes off and on real quick-not saying that will happen to you.
Good luck and if it happens again..throw it at the wall!!!   KIDDING!!!
