Do it once and be done then.  Think of the money you've spent on electronics....much less then those.

I'd love SS12's but I have to be judicious with my not-so-large room and my lack of funds this time of year.

Why don't you have Jim build you a philly 2 or 3?

Sorry to hear about the HT2-TL's Red.  Hopefully they are going to a loving home :)

Just hope that I get an opportunity to hear whatever you decide to replace them with in your room.

There are 3 new designs in the shop - 2 in mule form and one you have seen recently.  I'm waiting for one of the two mules to be finished so I can audition it next week.  The other was very impressive but Jim is still tinkering and noodling.

I do my Christmas shopping at the factory!

New Salk designs?  OH YEAH!  Tell me (us) more! :D

They sound absolutely freakin' awesome these days.  I changed a pair of op amps in my dac and we went up another notch.

That's Dennis' speaker isn't it? So I don't see Jim building them any time soon.

Yes, I remember when Dennis started talking about his speakers he said that he OK'd Jim to build them if anybody wants one with a better cabinet.   I am sure it would be more expensive but it would be a higher quality cabinet.  I don't think anybody has had Jim build one yet but it sure would be worth asking about.  :thumb:

Here is one place that Dennis talked about the option to have Jim build a Philly.

Sell your electronics and get AVA equipment and the SoundScapes.  I've read that is a match made in heaven.

I'm not quite sure how to respond to that.

the new prototypes you have heard at the shop must be nice

as it seemed you were quite content to wait with your HT2TLs

I hope you find audio nirvana with the latest speaker in your quest

Not even a clue, like where in the lineup of Salk's they'll fall?

Do not mean to steal Jim's show, but at Chicago Audio Society in September he was talking about something like SoundScapes with two 7" woofers instead of a 10" or 12" woofer. I was so impressed by the midrange/treble from SS'12 that I asked him about a cheaper version of  SoundScapes. Jim did not make a secret out of it at all. My impression was it would fall between SS'10 and HT3's, probably closer to the latter.

I was pretty dead set on going with a paint finish on my next pair of speakers.  But I am waffling.  I came across this site with some very cool finishes done by the builders themselves.

That would be awesome, especially since I've heard the only M7's in existence (to my knowledge) and fell in love with them.  Those towers are mighty fine looking too!

Once again I must say, that would be so cool!
