To the G.A.S. fellas: SPAM in the emails

Hey fellas.

Just wanted to give you a heads up about a couple things.

First off, everybody on my list received an email from me yesterday afternoon.
It was from Kent Johnson regarding the Audiofest in St. Louis.
If you didn't receive it, then I don't have your email address.

Secondly, I'd like to apologize for the spam you received from me the other day.  :roll:
Seems that everybody on my email list got at least a couple from.
To add some humor to a very aggravating situation, I got a phone call from my 77 year old Mother asking why I sent her a link for discounted Viagra.  :|

Suffice it to say that you will never receive anything from me that doesn't contain the words "GAS", "audio", or "AudioCircle" in the subject line.
Well, except for those of you who chat with me via email.

A few years ago someone hacked my personal yahoo account & sent out SPAM to all my contacts.

The advertisement was for hi-end purses, not Viagra, and although it was embarassing & frustrating i ended up selling 6 alligator skin hand bags   :lol:

Bob, this is called "spoofing".  It happened to me last summer/fall.  In fact, some GAS members received e-mails from me, just like yours.

There's some type of "virus" that copies your contact list and sends e-mails that look like they're from you.  They don't show in your sent items, so it's not someone commandeering your PC, just your contact list.  You should change the password for your e-mail account. . .that's the only way to stop it.  If you don't, it will happen again.

Now, can I interest you in some Cialis?  :D

It actually did record each and every outgoing email in my sent folder.
I had seven pages in my outbox of 'shit' sent to my friends and family.  :evil:
I even have nine "return failed" messages that got bounced back to me.

I hate people sometimes. That's just evil.

Interesting...I got bounce backs also when this happened, but there wasn't anything in my sent items.  Of course, the first I became aware was when my mom asked why I was trying to sell her Viagra.  She then told me that she forwarded the e-mail to my dad!!

Seems it's happening again/still.

My name has been thrown out there several times in the past week or so via emails, three times just this afternoon alone.  :?

Currently scanning my harddrive for malware/virus/bla bla bla.....stuff.....

My greatest apologies folks.

But suffice it to say, DO NOT click on anything sent from my address, or any address using my name in the text.

Yea, apparently there were more sent out last night, one of which had a date stamp of Sun 3rd 2011 12:52am.
That time hasn't even happened yet. How does that work?  :scratch:
