will be interested in your findings given both the woofers and your new mains spec out at similar low end frequency capabilities.

Might be the trick to "flesh out" a little more low end...

Yes the idea is that even though they do not go much lower the woofer placement close to a boundary reinforces low bass and the smoothing affect of multiple woofers makes for a much better frequency response in the lower octaves.

I can understand the reasoning as one of the shortcomings of my 1.7's is that sometimes the low end seems a bit thin. But what about the frequencies below 40hz? I have a lot of music that utilizes that "last" octave. 

I guess I need to listen before judging, but I remain skeptical that the Magnepan woofers will be a complete solution.

I have not received the Maggie woofers yet - seems you have to know someone high up to get noticed :duh:
