Reconfigure a 110V 2B-LP to 230V

Hi James,
is it hard to reconfigure a 2B-LP amp from 110V to 230V?
The reason why I am asking is that I am about to buy a flat and it is bound to get some home automation and audio distribution. I just acquired a Crestron CNX-PAD8A, which is a 8x8 audio matrix switch/preamp with 8 independent stereo audio zones. My favourite speaker brand Dynaudio offers a small number of in wall speakers, which would be my first choice. Now I need to decide on power amplification. Of course, Bryston would be my very first choice. Since I don't want to have a single amp running all the time, I would prefer to have a number of small stereo amps, hence the 2B-LP. Now, since cost is a factor, i would want to get them used. in Germany, however, used Bryston gear is more expensive and to get a decent number of a specific amp could take ages. That's why buying in the US, shipping them to my home country and coverting them to 230V would be an intriguing option. I did the conversion on a Denon pro CD player and it was very easy. I just had to solder a little, changing the location of a bridge and I was up and running with 230V.

Can you find out for me if it is as easy with a 2B-LP?
On a different note, I once owned a legacy 2B amp. It had a pronounced sound over the speakers when turned on or off. on speakers with a high sensitivity/efficiency, it was more distracting or even starling, whereas on power hungry speakers, it was o.k.. How does the 2B-LP perform, on-off-switching-sound-wise?
Thanks

Markus

P.S. I would talk to Sun Audio, but they don't like me importing stuff, presumably, because they don't make money on me importing used Bryston gear. On one hand it's understandable, but buying 6to8 2B-LPs new at German prices simply isn't a viable option for me...

Hi Markus - yes it is fairly involved and we use 50Hz transformers for Germany whereas the US is 60Hz.

Sun Audio is no longer our distributor in Germany so maybe check with the new guy and he may give you a speacial deal. :thumb:
