well,
it is like a perfect voice in a very good acoustic setting.
get the decay right and fine detail too. mids and voices are a dream, as you can imagine.
bass is not so much better than the Reference, but the treble is.
tracking is exemplary and complex passages are easily mastered.
what it is the master of is ambiance and sound stage.
the sounds stage is not only huge, but the walls around it are really solid.
most cartridges that have a huge sound stage have little or no walls, the room goes on for ever.
the leading edges are not exaggerated but a rim shot still makes you sit up if your speakers are up to it.
i like it so well that it is one of 2 that get to occupy time on the Stax tonearm.
the other is my Empire MC-5 cartridge, which also needs a light tonearm.
does it compete with a Koetsu, sure it does.
the focus is not as pin point but does better with strings....you can really hear the rosin on them!
it loves the Cello and Contrabass! and the female voice. put some Diana Krall on! or Goldfrapp!
have been listening to some new acid jazz, and this is what it is all about! yeah!
