Any Bryston 4B's?
« on: 17 Mar 2011, 02:44 am »
Hey, Guys!
I was wondering if anyone has a 4B for sale to power-up my Maggies...
I know that  this  may seem like a silly way to inquire, but I've decided to put myself in the hands' of fellow Bryston owners/enthusiasts,who may have an older 4B that needs a home.
I  have lost a lot of faith in Audiogon, having been burned a few times over the years.  Now there are so many unscrupulous people on the site, that it has made me think twice about sending a stranger payment for something sight-unseen.
Any help is greatly appreciated. :green:

I have one that was recently refurbished by the dealer.  Unless you are in Singapore though, I would imagine the shipping (and voltage) would make acquisition impractical.

I have a Bryston 4B that I brought with me from Canada to Singapore that I am not using that I would consider selling.  It does have Canadian plug though - I have no idea how easy/difficult that is to change, or if it is even possible.

As a previous poster mentioned. They are quite regular appearances on http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/

Good luck,

I sent you a PM. I have a 1988 4B that was updated with the toroidal transformers by Bryston Service in 2004.

How did the updated amp sound?

the sound with the toroidal transformers was a significant improvement over the original laminate transformers. The original transformers developed a discernable buzz and Bryston, with their wonderful 20 year warranty replaced the transformers with the 2004 toroidals under warranty.

Awesome. That's cool that Bryston can update their old amps.  :thumb:
