BDP-1 & BDA-1 Buttons
« on: 16 Mar 2011, 12:31 pm »
If a person was to order both units today, would they both have the same style of buttons? I thought I remembered reading the BDP-1 had a different style when it was introduced.

Hi,

Yes they would be the same today leaving the factory... some older style units may be in stock with some dealers.

The BDP-1 had different buttons when it was introduced than the BDA-1 but we were made aware that supply of the older style buttons might be an issue. So we decided to change the buttons on the BDA-1 DAC to match the BDP-1 Player as we went along.  It is a very subtle change.

It is not possible to adapt the new buttons to the older units as it would mean a completly different front panel and circuit board.

James, was the decision to change the buttons an 'upgrade' or aesthetic or supplier reason??

Hi,

The BDA and BDP have the same buttons now. The BCD is staying with the smaller buttons and the cutout relief around the buttons.

Since we're writing/reading about both BDP-1 & BDA-1, I'll throw this out here...
I read somewhere back about the possibility of special pricing if both units are purchased together, is that from Bryston or authorized Bryston Dealer or was I imagining it...
Thanks.

Hi,

Yes it was discussed but we never did adopt a plan.
