Hi all - I have a pair of VR-2's rated 8 for age - made in 2004. One tiny ding on the very bottom left side plinth that you have to really look for - see pics on my audiogon ad here: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1303575006&/Von-Schweikert-VR-2---price-dr. Other than that they're in excellent shape. I have the original boxes and manual. Fantastic speaker.

I'm the second owner.  I've driven them with 1) Jolida 502b, 2) BAT VK-60, 3) Wyred4Sound ST-500.  All sounded very, very nice, oftentimes breathtaking.  These feature the adjustable rear-firing tweeter which adds to the highs.  Very cool especially with "tubeofiles".  I used it at about 2/3 for tubes, and close to zero for solid state.  It's a nice feature to have.

I'm asking a fair $1200.

They're currently boxed andready to ship. I took out the sand so they weigh about 65 lbs.

Good luck with your sale, and the new 33's. I owned a pair of VR-2's many years ago and thought they were great. I have heard of people doing mods to these speakers that take their performance to an even higher level.

Someone is going to get a great pair of speakers for little money. I can't think of any new $1200 speakers that can even come close to the VR-2's. Good luck.

How about a review of the VR-33's when they get settled in?

VR-33's were delivered earlier today.  While they sound nice - and seem bigger than I imagined - they do need a bit of time  to "mature".  Kinda cool that they're just 6" or so from the back wall. 

I'll post something on the Von Schweikert circle in a couple weeks.
