What wine are you drinking now.
« on: 6 Mar 2011, 11:16 pm »
There are lot of wine enthusiasts on audio circle what goes better together music wine and food. I'm always looking for that good bottle of wine or avoiding one that just might not be what all the hype says it is in any case snag a picture of what your consuming and give us a couple of thoughts on it. Don't matter if its a $10 bottle or a $100 bottle if its good or bad let us know.

I will start with this nice Shiraz from Australia

called fist class from grateful palate airwines

opulent, muscular, and fruit-rich with soft-to-moderate tannins that is full of flavor, spiciness

Pa wine specialty stores are selling it at $9.99 nice oak flavor and a little sweater than the Cabs i usually drink minimal after taste

I opened up a 1995 vintage Hutcheson port I've had in my wine fridge for 10 or so years last night.  I wasn't expecting too much as it was only $24.99 when I bought it (vintage ports are usually much more expensive).  But I was pleasantly surprised.  It beat the socks off all other LBV and lower priced tawny's I've had.  Though it's definitely no '97 Grahams.  Still, looking forward to more of it tonight after the munchkin goes to bed!    :thumb:

Black Box Malbec 2010, Wal-Mart $18

I'm a very demanding consumer of under $10 bottles  :icon_lol: and the Malbec is my favorite of the Black Box wines. It's full yet fruity and not thin like some of the box wines can be. Definitely a step up from Two Buck Chuck and a fine everyday wine if you aren't hung up on the packaging.

Personally, I like being able to have a bit of wine without opening a bottle. Also great for cooking when you need to add a splash of decent wine to a sauce.

BTW: great topic ecramer! Sure to be a classic.  :wine: :thumb:

You better drink up that port soon.  Unlike tawny's and rubys, vintage ports don't have a shelf life after being opened.  Though I am sure you knew that.

Currently enjoying a bottle of 2006 Sarabande.

This is a red blend from France.  Included in our monthly "wine club" delivery that came on Friday.  Nothing to write home about, on par with the run of the mill grocery store wine.    Would not purchase again.

I'm the only wine drinker in the house, so I've shifted box wines since they stay fresh for several weeks after "opening".  My favorite box wine is from the Rhone Valley in France.  Right now I'm trying the Bota Box Cabernet Savignon, which is not bad at all.  I never did warm to the "Black Box" wines mentioned above, but the Bota Box is pretty good.

Just opened this to go with the roasted red pepper ricotta fritatta I am making for dinner.

It's local and it has my name on the label

Yeah, the 2007 is pretty good. Actually the 2006 vintage in Spain was, in my experience, rather awful.  Now if there are any 2005's still around, especially in the Rioja district, grab them, they are very good.

I just read that review  :shake:.  Goes to show to watch what you read on the internet.  The reviewer states that it is a Tempranillo. It's not. Not a drop. It's grenache and carignan.
