Hello all. This is my first post on the Hagerman forum. I ordered the Cornet2 phono preamp half kit and had machined the Altec Lansings silver case. Now I am about to order all the parts. I've been reading Wayne's and Tubesforever posts the last 2 years and see they are regularly experimenting and reinventing this kit. If I could get a parts order list it would help me immensely place these orders. I found the Russion caps on ebay but all the posts I read refer to differant specs. Below I copied teh digikey parts list. Could some of you refresh this list with the most current best replacement parts list and where to order them from? Maybe add a space under each line and highlight the replacement part :) BTW I tried going to Digikey and typing in these order numbers. None come up. That website is impossibly confusing to use. I can't even find the transformer this kit needs.
Help is much appreciated. Thanks

WGH

Sorry, but I'm way too busy to go through the Cornet2 parts list to find the current parts numbers for you.
As for cap upgrades I bought mine through Sonic Craft http://www.soniccraft.com/

Use "Search" in Hagerman Technology and you will find most of your answers. What search terms? Try:
Mundorf
Sonicap
Russian Teflon FT-3
Resistors
Cornet2

Everything will make sense after a while, there is a learning curve.

This is my first post on the Hagerman forum.
You are welcome!

IMHO you have done the biggest part of the job.
I suggest to build as close to the original (parts list) as possible! Boutique and other exotic parts could be tricky to find and use and won't give you any better results until you understand the nessesity and "taste" of each change.

I tried going to Digikey and typing in these order numbers. None come up. That website is impossibly confusing to use. I can't even find the transformer this kit needs.
It seems in the Digikey all is organised the easiest way. In the line "Part Search" enter the part number (for example, 493-1461-ND) and press "go". The page for the part number will be opened then. (http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?lang=en&site=US&WT.z_homepage_link=hp_go_button&KeyWords=493-1461-ND+&x=26&y=29)
After that, to look at another part (for example, 370BX-ND), enter the new part number at the line "Keywords" and press "Search Again". The new page (http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?vendor=0&keywords=370BX) will open...

I would also stay with the list provided from Hagtech.  One recommendation I would make would be using EH 12AU7's in place of the JJ's.  They seem to be more linear in this particular application.

Thank you guys for the help so far. I saw the reason I couldn't find alot of the parts on Digikey was because I was looking for Tubesandmore parts there. Got that straightened out.
I figured resistors are an easy thing to substitute. No reason to re-invent the wheel. I've read and was told that PNP resistors are amazing along with Vishays. Im not sure if a few "key" resistors would be better with a certain brand and value. I read that on here somewhere. I guess I will try to track it down and see if the info is complete for me to make an order.

In order to get my voltages correct I ended up using a 1.3 5W in R223 position,if I recall correctly. You might consider ordering some smaller values just in case- cheaper to do it all at the same time.
