Questions about Modwright 9.0 SWL Sig:
« on: 24 Feb 2011, 10:34 pm »
HI Guys,
I have read tons here on the forums but I have been unable to find the following for my Mowright 9.0 SWL Sig......can anyone help?
1.  From my understanding the tube rolling that bears the greatest fruit is the tube rectifier correct?  Can anyone share their experiences with what they liked and didn't like and why?  I read the TP thread ( or as much as I could.....and I can see that the consensus was the EML).
2. Does the EML Rectifier work or not in this pre (I am pretty sure the consensus is that it is a good choice and will work on the 9.0.
3.  I already have a hole bored in the top for a larger tube....Any choices or recommendations for under $100?
4.  What does the HT bypass do with the tubes?  Is that a way to keep them on "standby" or are they burning on the HT bypass?  If this is not the correct way to go about it, is there a standby function?
5.  What is the phase switch for on the blue upgraded remote?

This is my first tubed pre and I am loving it paired with my Omen Defs and Pass Labs XA 30.5.  Fantastic combo!   :thumb:

Thanks in advance....I will be out of town for a few days, but I will try to keep in touch.
Morgan

dont know about the rectifier, but when I owned this pre and the non Sig version
I really liker NOS Amperex PQ 7119 in the line stage portion. They can be microphonic
but sounded really good to me versus the 5687's

Do they require an adapter (also for any future responses, does any of the rectifiers require an adapter also btw?)?

I have a Mullard Blackburn 5ar4 gz34 coming for my LS 100... NOS Mulard's seem to be a favorite/work well in the 9.0 PS
