I'm the 26th....53 Saturday and when I was a kid no body had birthdays close to mine....then I found a friend who was 25th, two others that were 27,28 so we had a blow out 4 day party every year after that....LOL.   And then we grow older despite our best efforts not too...in my case I'm in a 53 year old body but more like 15 or 16 year old....this will be my best birthday ever I think!!!!

Thanks vinyl_lady!! My walker gets delivered to the hospital today, don't know if I should cry or be happy but I find myself excited to get a new toy and get home to my stereo....got some hi-rez files while staying here- new Radiohead, and Gaucho from Steely Dan...they both sound excellent. They need JBL's...and tubes behind them to shine!!!Saturday an old guy will smile and walk proudly out of here...this website had everyone at the hospital talking about the power of the web....and you guys really helped me when I was very down. Bill called me and siad check out the pub post about you being in hospital and I was floored, in tears with joy....very special place AC has become for me.
Its a dandy place to hang out!!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :drums: I started playing drums again while here...how about that...huge for me. HUGE!!
 OK...back to fun!!!

Great Post!
It's amazing how strong a bond can be made with those met via common interests on web forums and how important those relationships can be when the darker times cross our paths.

I've generally found the vinyl fraternity to be particularly understanding and supportive.

We've not tic-tac'd Ed, but my thoughts are with you.

Yes! Happy Birthday to all with a birthday looming

Cheers
Dave

I agree with you about AC. I have "met" some great folks on this forum and have had the pleasure of meeting several in person at RMAF and when I have travelled to DC on business (Woodsyi, Scottdazzle & Scotty). A great group of guys and gals sharing a love for music and the gear that reproduces it at a high level.

I will continue to pray for a complete healing and recovery.

Best,
Laura

Hey!

Woodsyi, first happy birthday and congratulation on your Victor's Victrola VV-50 :D Hard to believe that this were made to be the portable machine of it's days.

When I saw your post I thought... "Hmm... I'm not the only one here" Well, back in 2008 I bought myself a Victor also for my B'day that year.... a Vcitor Type "E" in my case. It was something I've been wanting to have for many years. :D

By the way if you ever need to get it's motor clean I know a place that did a pretty good job in VT. I sent my there after one of the sprint broke... well after 106 years.

Anyway, enjoy and let us know how it turn out when you get it. :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

I was thinking of you and your cool Victrola.  8)

It's supposed to be in working order and comes with a load of extra needles.  I will be pumping you for advices once I get it going.

Thanks everyone.  I don't have that many candles to blowout.  I tell you I just don't feel old although I am getting up on half century mark.  As for the hunting 78s, I am always on the look out for music discs of every sort.  I already have a few hundred 78s on the shelves -- some over 100 years old.  I will be listening to them like they did a 100 years ago.  It will be fun.

Hey!

   I see

Let me know if you have any question. I will be glade to help fellow audiophile and a Victor/Victrola owner... there aren't many around here  :icon_lol:

Yes, there is nothing like listening to acoustical recordings discs the way they did back than on a acoustical playback machine. :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:
