Pmc ob1i

Hi, not sure if this is the right forum to post questions on PMC. Would like to ask what would be the minimum space away from rear and side walls for the OB1i. Thanks for your inputs

Hi,

I don't have PMCs but I noticed that I get the best sound in my room by going against the manufacturer's recommendations.

So whatever they are, think of them as a starting point in your experimenting and not a hard rule.

I have a PMC OB1i and as far as spacing in the rear (back wall), you can place them fairly close to the rear wall without affecting the mid-range.  Likewise, when the the OB1i where placed close to the side walls.  I would suggest you flank the tweeters with acoustic treatments.

Having said that, I would say 1-2' feet minimum depending on your taste.  The bass will surely become louder when placed very close to room boundaries.  Adjust them accordingly.

Hi Nap, thanks for your feedback. I do not have the ob1i, as such I am not able to experiment.

Levi, I am thinking of getting a ob1i but I would not have much space on the rear wall. I suppose 1 foot is about the maximum I can place away from the rear wall and 3 feet away from the side. Would it cause boomy bass / adverse effect on the soundstage? I had been advied that the pmc does not need a very big room and wanted to have some users feedback. Thanks

The Ob1's tonal balance and bass resolution is something else.  It is Juicy.  Not sure about how it is going to Affect the nodes in your room as far as bass goes. You will love the depth, soundstaging and clear cohesive midrange of the OB1.

My OB1i's are only a few Centimetres from the rear wall and are absolutely fine, I am also only about a foot from the side walls, they are quite easy with their placement. Oh and yes they really do sound great...
