NOS Western Electric Wire
« on: 14 Feb 2011, 04:09 pm »
One of our club members Triode Pete got a hold of various gauge WE wire. Over the years numerous powercords have graced our system. After the long and tedious demos the Omega Mikro active became our reference.
Well move on over. These WE NOS wires are really something to write home about. Everything one would expect a dead quite background, stellar bass, depth and a full weighter image. I hard wired a 10ga version to our mono preamp powr supplies. A 14ga version for the CDP and waiting on 8Ga for the amps.
Our new reference. Even the wife noticed a difference for the good. Check these out.

I'll second that, I just equipped my pre, amp and sources with 4 of these cables plus my Majik Buss and the difference was immediate and substantial.

I'll third that...I've no reason to go to anyone else for power cords...unless Triode Pete stops making them. I truly believe you would have to get seriously expensive to better them, and that was even demonstrated at Rollo's last rave.

Is this the same cable that Mojo Audio is using?

I use three different sizes of wire, depending on the application (12 AWG, 10 AWG, & 8 AWG). I'm not sure what Mojo Audio utilizes, but I use a specialty procured ground wire with my cords and the best sounding connectors that I (& others) have experienced. These pure copper connectors are utilized in the $3000 Bybee power cord (not sure if it's still made or not) as well as other high end power cords.

Also, my braiding technique differs from Mojo Audio. I determined (through much experimentation) that the “best” assembly technique for my cables was to utilize Litzendraht braiding (aka Litz braiding). This technique was developed in the 1930s in Germany and was utilized by Western Electric for military cable applications during WWII. Extremely effective & simple way to eliminate EMI / RFI & other electrical anomalies. Plus my 3 daughters & wife are excellent Litz braiders. I'm the termination guy!  :)

Cheers,
Pete

I have the Mojo Audio cables using this wire, and they are excellent. Quiet, organic, dynamic, and very musical. Mine aren't going anywhere!!!

Any chance of a tour, Pete?  Even a local long islander thing?

I have two Mojo audio PC's and one Triode wire PC .
The Triode wire labs version is FAR superior, way more refined and musical.
It is amazing how much you love something when something better comes along.

Pete's cables are an excellent value at any price.
Pete you  should do a demo tour, let everyone hear how good it can be without breakingthe bank.
