Strange, when you have 30k system, it's always the room - speakers and room relation, but when you have 300k system, room suddenly isn't important, mostly...

She reminds me of bins we used on the road years ago only they were smaller.
Cabinets were square and housed a 15,facing backwards.
They sounded really good compared to the standard front fired bins and nice and compact.
We used two per side.I believe they were made in Quebec(can't remember the name)WAyyyy back.

I have heard the Avantgarde Acoustic Trio's (and all the other Avantgarde models). Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. They need a HUGE room.
The basses shown are Avantgarde's basshorns. It is a stereo setup (as far as I can see).

When it comes to ultimate hometheaters, I think the system with 5 JBL Everests comes high (see the picture food thread). I have also seen pictures of a hometheater consisting of 5 Tannoy Westminsters (which also is a good speaker).

This is a timely posting from my perspective - I have a spare Wyetech Labs Opal pre-amp and Bryston 14 amp, and am contemplating trying some non-box speakers using these as a downstream combo.

The Avantgarde Unos (the much smaller siblings of the fancy Trios above) are one possibility.  An internet search suggests that these speakers don’t pair well with s/s amps, and are better suited to lower power SET type designs.  However, given the hearsay nature of the net, I’d like to ask forum members and James if anyone has first hand experience driving Avantgardes with a Bryston amp? (I recall that a dealer was driving Acapellas with Bryston to very good result). 

Auditioning these isn't easy, so any thoughts are most welcome, many thanks.

There is no reason why they should not sound as good (or better) with a transistor amplifier (Avantgarde has produced their own amp which is a transistor amp). So there is no reason not to try a transistor amplifier, for instance by Bryston. Keep your Bryston amps.
I find the JBL Array 1400 better than the Uno's (but have not AB-tested them).

Yes, I see no reason why Bryston amps *shouldn't* work with this speaker. The one thing I think I should confirm is whether the gain level for Bryston amps is ok for use with highly efficient speakers?

That article made me smile... despite knowing all these things, audiophiles will never give up on their magic potions.  (But who am I to criticize, I'm actually contemplating buying what look like a couple of over-sized megaphones...)
