A very, very live listeming room.
« on: 5 Feb 2011, 12:01 pm »

Hi all Audio Circle members.
This picture was taken from the monthly multimedia magazine called:
NGHE NHIN Vietnam
It’s an advertising from an importer of hi end audio stuff.
This picture was not taken in their showroom;
it’s a set up only to show what they sell and what it looks like.
Unfortunately this set up gives the impression that this is how it should be set up.
No carpet, no wall treatment and a huge hole on the side of the stairs and more…
If that was a real set up, it would sound like if it was in a public toilet…
For the Vietnamese the appearance is always very important.
Thank God, my next listening room won’t look like that.

Good...then you can be the voice in Vietnam of what a room with 'good' acoustics should look like. Begin the revolution  :thumb:

Anand.

P.S. A lot of rooms in the U.S. look like that too. Especially in Manhattan (NYC), Miami, etc...

Hi Mr. P and all Audio Circle members.
Since it will be very difficult for me to sell here in Vietnam a new and unknown brand like Audio 13, I will use my acousticaly treated listening room to promote my Audio 13 products and with the good sounding  GR Research products, it should be even easier.
I might not start a revolution, but maybe a new trend, meaning that my competitors will copy me, that's nothing new here in Vietnam.
A few years back, when hi end products were unknown here in Vietnam, I saw a listening room with carpet on the floor, that's O.K. but also on all the walls and even on the ceiling, believe me or not.

I have nothing to contribute, but LOL at this because it's so true:

No carpet, no wall treatment and a huge hole on the side of the stairs and more…
If that was a real set up, it would sound like if it was in a public toilet…

Par for the course really... This is in line with most hi end brochures I have seen. Including McIntosh, B&W, Martin Logan, Dynaudio and other name brands at the local shops. They all have their speakers photoed in big, open, modern and minimalists living spaces w/ lots of glass and bare wood around.
I actually had one of the owners at a boutique close to me try to tell me that these companys are designing their producs to work in rooms like this and that they may be best suited for that inviroment  :duh:

Hi nathanm and all Audio Circle members.
If you can't see the wires, it's because they run under the floor. (LOL)

Don't knock it until you heard it. I bet I could get fantastic sound in that room with not a lot of treatment.

First thing to go would be the t.v. Pull the speakers out 5-6', spread them out more, pull couch back as needed.

I really like the look of the space. And I would not worry about that hole by the stairs. I think it could only help.
