Hi: Not sure if this is the proper section, but I will be getting the new Oppo BDP-95 player when it comes out and I looking for suggestions for my first blu-ray music video in the 'rock'or 'progressive' genre.I have Dio-"Holy Diver" in the standard dvd which sounds not bad and I notice it comes in blu-ray also..Is there a big diff in the aq of the blu, worth buying?.I also have Spock's Beard-"Live" which also sounds good! I listen to mainly two-channel. Any others I should be looking to buy...aq is #1,then vq. Thanks,Keith

I got the new 93 over the holidays and am loving it. I go to Amazon and filter top rated BD music, so far all have been great. ACDC, NIN, Last Waltz, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Led Zep, Blue Man Group, Police, Diana Krall, Talking Heads. ect. If you have good base Blue Man is a must.

Enjoy.

That Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds is really nice sounding.  I'm not even a huge Dave Matthews fan, but that turned me into more of one

Hi: been away from the video scene for some time, now I am looking to get the new Oppo BDP-95 when it becomes available here in Canada and I have a question on the audio options on these blu-ray music videos.Do they have the 2.0 option along with the multi-channel option,as I prefer to listen in two-channel only(plus subwoofer(.1). Do they somehow revert or default to 2.0 when no option is available? Any blu-ray 2.0(.1) listeners care to comment. Thanks,Huck

I don't know if classical music's your thing, but if it is, 2L's "Flute Mystery" is very cool. The music is by Jonny Berg(who also does some rock, I understand) performed by Emily Bynton on flute and Vladimir Ashkenazy conducting the Philharmonia Orchestrs.

Almost all of the BR video or audio discs have a 2.0 PCM layer (most are 24/48), some also have a 5.1 PCM layer (most also 24/48) as well as the DTS MA/True HD layer (almost all are 24/96).  These are selected in the audio setup portion of the initial disc view.

IMO...start with the Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds recommended above; the Rush is also excellent.  See the Hi-Rez circle for a few more recommendations.
