What sort of geometry is he using? My guess is that however he is doing it, it is significantly raising the inductance of the wire, which is rolling off the high frequencies. Many fullrangers suffer from too much treble, and you needn't look far to find fullranger folks who prefer high inductance cables. Of course, there are other possible explanations. Maybe the total Qts of his speaker and amplifier system was a little high, making the bass too wooly. The extra wire could lower the damping factor and even it out. Mind you, I'm not saying that all wire differences are due to simple numbers like inductance and resistance. My main speaker cables (Risch cross connected Belden 89259) have pretty good specs (very low inductance), but I think its all the teflon that makes them sound so good.
