Empirical Turbomod for SHANLING CDP

Empirical Audio is excited to offer a Turbomod for the Shanling CDP.  The Turbomod designates a reference-quality component.  This is equivalent to or better than our reference system.  Both the Tube and SS outputs are reference quality.  No changes to the Digital out. This player truly delivers the magic with the Turbomod.

The mods consist of:

1) Power supply mods - Black Gate tanks, Freds etc..
2) DAC power mods
3) Change DAC output filter caps
4) Add or upgrade Superclock2 module
5) Improve all Op-Amp HF caps
6) Replace Op-Amps with high-performance types
7) Replace signal coupling caps
8 ) Improve Tube HF decoupling caps
9) Improve Tube signal coupling caps
10) Wire the tube and SS outputs with our Perfect Crystal Silver wire
11) Eliminate 4 op-amp sockets

If your Shanling has already been modded, we can take it from there and the cost will be less.

The entire mod to a stock player is $2500

Can you do something about that lazy relay (I assume) which cuts off the beginning second or two on the first track when going from STOP mode?  Can the CD-Slammer lid mechanism be tightened up by chance?

I do not think it is a relay.  There is a power-on relay that shorts the outputs, but I think this is on always.  Still pops sometimes on power-off though.  I tried it myself and do not notice any delay.  If I back-up over a track and then play into the next track, it sounds the same as if I just do stop and then the track number.

As for the CD slammer, I suppose it can be modified.  I have not tried to change this one, but it did slam down on one of my CD's....

We're talking about the CD-T100 right?

Here's what mine does:

The disc is stopped
Press Play or hit a track number on the remote
Disc spins up
An audible click is heard (what I am guessing is a relay)
Music starts playing

Maybe mine is broke cause I also have an instance where sometimes nothing is heard and I have to turn the Upsampling on and off and then it works fine.  Like something is sticking.  Any ideas?  Anytime the disc stops and starts playing again I hear the click before the audio comes on.

Nathan - this is what happens on this one, but I do not notice any music being missed, only a delay.

By golly, right after you posted this Nathan, the thing will not read an old Carly Simon disk at all, except for the TOC.  Strange....

Actually, the one that I am modding is a CDT-200 with the full Parts ConneXion Level-1+ mods in it.  After my mods, this puppy really sings..
