There are many lists, but I thought I would link Robert Christgau's list, as he is no longer with the Village Voice.
I enjoy lists because it sometimes clues me into trying new music that I would not be aware of otherwise.

I can't help having disdain for Robert Christgau.

Anyone that reviews releases in genres that he has admitted he doesn't like, has questionable integrity.

He should recuse himself from writing such reviews. In the past, he hasn't done this.

Honestly, most of the songs on that list are unknown to me 

But, the song by Shakira (waka, waka) is worth mentioning....i think every soccer fan knows it.

Too many vanilla critics out and about today.  At least Christgau would rate pop albums and have some form of critiquing why or why not he gave the album grade.  Love to have a Lester Bangs type out there reviewing albums again.
I'm sure they're out there, but I have not read them yet.

 2010 was really a disappointing year for music IMO. Other than a few bright lights like the releases from The Roots, Titus Andronicus and especially The National and Arcade Fire, it's been tough sledding finding new stuff that I wanted to buy. On the upside, 2011 is starting to look promising so let's hope for some excellent albums this year from the likes of Wilco, The Strokes, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Outkast, and maybe...just maybe... RADIOHEAD !!!

There was some decent stuff this year... Broken Bells, MGMT, Norah Jones, etc.

The one standout is definitely Contra by Vampire Weekend, an absolute classic and one of the best pop albums of all time: 



I'm also hoping for new Radiohead this year (but not holding my breath). Maybe some Modest Mouse or Postal Service would be nice too.

Hey Gary: You got me thinking and I've got some really good stuff from 2010 to add to your entries which I overlooked - Peter Gabriel, another solid outing from the Manic Street Preachers and an absolutely fabulous effort from the reconstituted John Butler Trio - really REALLY good.

I have the Broken Bells, but it doesn't get much rotation with me.  I will have to give Contra another listen as
it is on many lists.
