So, over the past couple of months, I've finally ripped most of my CDs on my external HD (Iomega) using iTunes.
On the HD there's a folder called MUSIC, in the folder are other folders of ARTIST, in the artist folder there are ALBUM folders, and in each album folder there are files, either in Apple Lossless or AIFF.

HOW can I get the Touch to read and play the files via pluggin in the HD (Via USB) directly to the Touch?
LAST Night I did this but it didn't play.  IT found the folders but didn't play.

Tuan:
Use of the Tiny Squezzebox Server which runs on the Touch player requires some patience while it copies and indexes the music on the USB drive.  The main 'feature' differences are no web interface, no transcoding, no sync for any players earlier than SB2, no statistics calculations and no info or debug level logging. This reduces the memory usage and the performance overhead.

Without the web interface, of course, most prefs are not accessible so it also runs with the default settings.
Curious that you choose proprietary Apple formats.  Flac is generally adjudged to be most useful and is free.
