When I first read your post, I thought the idea was ridiculous.  But the more I thought about it, I figured it would be worth a try.

Well, sorry my idea didn't work well for you, but glad the tinkering got you better sound after you were done.

Jack, Thank you so much for your thorough response. Now to get to work on my own system's dip around 350 Hz.

Many thanks again for sharing your expertise with us.

And for those of you following this thread not familiar with Holistic Audio, let me say how impressive Jack's systems are. Those of us who had a chance to hear his speakers at a meeting of the Chicago Audion Society were gobsmacked by the sound, and particularly impressed by the lack of sweetspot. Rather than jockeying for ideal listening position, we were hearing fantastic sound leaning against the side walls of the room. Great speakers and setup from Holistic.

if your speakers have 2 sets of binding posts contact dspeaker company which makes equalizers for the bass region. maybe they could make a box that hooks up to your speaker cable  before it connects to the bass terminals. this would equalize your bass but leave the upper end alone. you could compensate for the 3 millisecond delay by adding 3 feet of wiring to the mid/ treble cable. a simpler way to go would be  bag ends e trap which could negative phase the 37 hz region
