I've got a line on a pair of local VMPS Tower II speakers... wonder if it might be worthwhile to try a rebuild them.

Tower II's (T2) were a VERY popular model since they weren't too big and weren't too pricey.

And they sounded like a million bucks!!

If you can get them for the right price, it would certainly have its rewards.

Notice the ambience tweeter firing upwards.

It's interesting how the focus has shifted from "Room Filling" sound, which the older speakers clearly excelled at, to more transparency, imaging, and soundstaging, which the more recent speakers are obviously great at (while still having great bass).

What do you think... worthwhile gamble for $200?

They definitely look a little rough around the edges. I would probably snag them.

Once you replace all the drivers with new updated ones they will sound FAR better then they ever did originally, which was still pretty darn good. Trust me on this.
