I know pretty much nothing technical about subwoofer design, but I do have and use the MFW-15 in its original enclosure.  My very limited speaker design understanding is that all enclosures need to closely complement the specifications/parameters of the drivers.  In this case, the MFW-15 driver was actually paired with a ported enclosure rather than a sealed one.  If the Dayton Titanic III 15" is any comparison (which I also own), the MFW has proved much more natural and also extended.  I'm not sure the exact reasons for the differences, but my perception is that the MFW has less punch than the Dayton, but it goes deeper and also has more articulation.  Of course, the drivers are different and so are the amps, but I'm quite happy with the MFW in its designed enclosure.  I know it's not your typical tubular porting, so maybe that helps.

Anyway, I'm just curious if you don't have the wrong kind of enclosure to mate properly with your driver.
