Amazon has the Star Wars trilogy, complete or partial sets on Blu-Ray for preorder...no release date, I just noticed it tonite, actually this morning. "Soon my young apprentice"

From what I understand, it will only be the modified versions of the original three, not the original versions.  I'm conflicted about that. It seems to me the modified versions added material that wasn't really useful.  And don't get me started about the last three.

The release "date" is September 2011.

I don't think Lucas will release the originals on BR and if he does they'll get the red-headed stepchild treatment like before. Such a shame.

I still have LD players and the original faces LDs.  That's one of the reasons I got into LD towards the end.  I kind of figured Lucas would go that route and picked up each of the discs new at $9.99.

Why? 

Pre-ordering at Amazon guarantees you'll have it in your hands on the day of release, that you'll get the lowest possible price and they dont charge your card until it ships.

I've already ordered my set.

I originally started this thread back in January, well I was able to pick up Episodes I, II & III-my favorite scene from all the movies is the opening Battle and eventual crash landing by young skywalker in Episode III. I think these blu-rays are spectacular and now I must buy all of them instead of just the ones I picked up today. Has anyone else grabbed these????

Got mine the day before realease via Amazon which was pretty cool... watched Ep IV, quality is everything I could have hoped for.

Picked up the complete saga and watched EP IV last night, video transfer was great for this 1977 movie and the soundtrack was much better than I could hoped for.  I am not going to deny myself this great saga on blu-ray because of what version it is, that’s just me.

I read a whole bunch of negative reviews today and then got the blu-rays, I have no idea what all those folks were watching because my (fill in version#,letter,rough,smooth,first,second--whatever version here ) stuff looks awesome.........
