I have Verizon and would like an iPhone but I'm going to wait for the LTE version.  I hold my phones forever and don't want to buy older tech. when a new model will be coming out soon enough.

I think it is surprising that Verizon is coming out with an iPhone that does not work with their 4G service.  I think many customers will wait until their next generation.  I have an iPhone from AT&T and am quite happy with it but IMHO it needs their 3G service coverage or WiFi to work satisfactorily in data mode.

Agreed, I am going to wait for the 4G service. To me AT&T's abysmal phone service is irritating, but I honestly don't talk on the phone a lot, for me it's all about internet access and I really don't have any complaints about that. For some reason it's actually very good for that. I do like video conferencing feature a lot and hope that Verizon 3G/4G will be able to accommodate it! It seems like every great idea Apple comes up with is severely nerfed by AT&T's incompetence.

Why wait for the next one if you want one now???  There will always be a new model to upgrade to, but the great thing about Apple products is the resale value.  When the new iphone comes out in the next 6-12 months, sell the old one for minimal loss and get the new one with 4g.  Of course this depends on your contract and when you are eligible for an upgrade.  Also, 4g is limited to certain areas so it may not be beneficial for some to have 4g support.  Here is a map that shows the curent 4g markets.
