I am the original owner of this CHERRY Bidat designed by the legendary Ed Meitner. I have the original box and packing as well as the very, very rare digital volume control which enables you to run it direct into any amplifier, forgoing your need for a preamplifier.

This Bidat also has November 2009 Mods by the equally legendary John Wright in Canada. He can confirm and provide details of every modification he has performed over the years.

I am reluctantly selling this to finance my foray into Hi Rez formats. When it comes to Redbook I still consider this unit to be King...unbelievably musical, yet as detailed as anything out there. Read the audiogon forums about how this unit stacks up to even the latest under $10k DACs.

My asking or OBO price is $2,200 plus shipping and 3 percent Paypal....very fair,considering it comes with the remote volume control and has a known and excellent pedigree. Can you help me clarify whether this is the same as the Museatex Bidat or not?  You refer to it as the Cherry Bidat by the same designer but I'm not quite clear.  Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Not stupid at all. My bad.  Yes, this is the Museatex Bidat. Cherry was my lame attempt at humor...you know..like they say about cars that are in good condition..cherry.

Thanks - sorry, another question - I believe there is a "Super+ 2010" update available.  Do you have any idea how much that update would cost on this unit?

I believe it involves the power supply and I think John would be the fist to say that it is merely incremental and NOT a major upgrade from November of 2009. That said, his mods are usually between 500 to 700, but you would need to contact him.

Stereophile listed this Museatex Bidat as one of it's bona fide "classic collectables" recently and I'm about ready to advertise it internationally. I prefer dealing with audiocircle folks, so please make a reasonable offer if you're interested in this remarkable DAC.
