In honor of one day (1/11/11).........
« on: 10 Jan 2011, 09:43 pm »
Looking for either songs or LPs that have the word or number one in the title. I hope to play as many as I can tomorrow, but I can only think of 2.

They are: 3 Dog Night-One (is the loneliest number) and the whole Yes LP-90125.

Good job, Brad.

I have the Eagles, One of these Nights and Pink Floyds' One Slip, One Way Out by the Allman Bros., Another one bites the dust by Queen, One of these days by Pink Floyd, Five to one by the Doors, One little victory by Rush, One step up by the Boss, and No one is to blame by Howard Jones.

Gees, I must be getting brain dead.

As there's a 2, 3 & 4, does this count?

How about this: Mark-Almond/ 1.

They were Jon Mark & Mark Almond. They had 2 albums, both from Blue Thumb Records in 1982. They were titled simply "1", and "2".

Anybody ever hear of these guys? The music was good. Very different, and hypnotic.  :)

They were in the backing band for John Mayall's "Turning Point " album. Great album, as was Mak/Almond 1. I don't know that I've ever heard 2.

On Topic:
"One Tin Soldier" is a 1960s era anti-war song written by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter. Later released as One Tin Soldier (The Legend of Billy Jack) by Coven.

Saw them live at The Academy of Music, 2nd Avenue and 14th Street. They opened for Yes. Probably 1971 or 1972, before Rick Wakeman ruined the band. Anyway, had never heard of Mark Almond and being a Purple Haze kind of nite, they just blew me away. Great Sax and the songs just flowed. The City was the one song that stood out and I purchased Mark Almond One as soon as I could. Oh yeah, Yes was pretty freaking good that nite too.

Are you sure about the early 80's date.  I have what I think is their first album which I bought new when I was in college and I graduated in 1973.  I have to dig it out but its a maroon colored cover with a picture frame style cutout with their picture in the  middle.
