Hasselblad Medium format Digital
« on: 6 Jan 2011, 09:59 am »
Just did a wedding with the Hasselblad H2D- it's such an amazing camera
we got to use our Broncolor flash kit synced at 1/350th @f8 (DSLRs can only sync at  max. 1/200th)

What I found really good was the how it reproduces Reds and Blues- with DSLRs the reds and Blues have no detail. This reminds me of shooting transparencies (those where the days!)

Image at 100% with some jpeg compression

It's my new toy that I shoot just about everything with it (but i did buy it for work).

A few months ago I downloaded a huge RAW file taken with the MF Pentax 645d.  My six year old computer prefers 12 mega pix files, that's for sure.

How about 200megapixels?
http://www.cnet.com.au/hasselblad-plans-200-megapixel-camera-339306183.htm

Should end up with a 600Mb tiff?...... you're computer would blow up trying to process, covert and open that image.

you can never have enough pixels. if they release a 300 mp back we would still want more!! the only problem now is computet power isnt up to it.

Why would anyone want a Ferrari logo on a camera?

Oh - nice image, by the way :)

Navi, is there a chance you could post a RAW file from this bad boy anywhere?  I'd love to see it 'in person' in Lightroom.  Doesn't have to be THIS image, just anything you've got.  Normally AudioCircle is a great place to see impressive audio systems I could never hear, much less own, but at least with an image I could briefly experience "owning" a high zoot digital back.  Ha!

Why would anyone want a Ferrari logo on a camera?
To match your red Ferrari of course!  No seriously, I think it gives you faster shutter speeds. :P

Because they can't afford a real Farrari and a $30,000 camera will have to do........ and what nathanm said

Surely anyone who can afford a $30,000 camera can afford to drive whatever they want.

If it's for business and you are making money then it is worth getting one.  Unlike Ferrari, you can write the camera off your taxes as business expense.

A friend of mine had a Ferrari until his wife made him sell it.  AFAIK he wrote it off as a business expense, but don't ask who he is or what he does.

Hey!

Man! That's is nice. Bigger sensor and quality German Zeiss lens really paid off when is come to resolution and color. :D

Yeah, I found red to be very problematic too with my DSLR.  :icon_lol:

Just wondering. How big is the RAW file out of that thing, what memo card you use and how long dose it take between short?

Take care

Wall size posters.

Larger formats are only good if you're going to make very large prints. I looked at the Hasselblad/Canon comparison site and I couldn't see any difference.

I am sure to each his own.  Some people can hear cables.  Some simply don't.

If you have the original image files and compare them side beside.  Maybe.

One thing that makes a difference, is the digital backs are typically full 16 bit, which makes a big difference in color fidelity and detail.

I shot some stuff years ago w/ the now ancient P20. It had no more pixels than my Canon of the time when cropped to a similar aspect ratio, but the image quality was much better.

Still, the DSLRs have come a long way in a few years, especially in terms of reducing noise at high ISO equilivent settings.

Sometimes you get what you paid for.  In this case with the Hasselbad, you probably do.
