hot ground-wtf

played around some more to try and figure out were my new hum comes from and noticed that i get a spark off the ground thats hooked up to the water line

called a electrician friend he is coming by thur or fri -
whole system is dead till then i aint takin no chances

my electrician friend just left-
i had 5 volts going thru my water pipes

-he traced it to a line installed years ago that they ran a ground to the pipes -bad outlet

Are you saying an outlet was shorted and sending juice to neutral/ground?

i had lots of single wires hooked up to the water pipes for grounds(i didnt do them, i had new outlets installed at all major spots a few yars ago-kitchen, stereo, hot tub,computer ect-)

well there was a outlet that they grounded with a single wire that when i snipped it the current went to almost nothing, said.04milivolts i think.
went up and repaced outlet

outlet fell apart -no other ones in the house are like it
