Apple OS 10.6.5 to Windows

Not to flame anyone.

It's been four days now since I bought my 14yr old son a bad-ass 27" iMac then loaded Windows XP SP2 in it.  It must be just me, Windows XP SP2 run lots snappier than the OS 10.6.5. even on i7 proc.  I hate SAFARI and that dreaded Safari plug-in (Flash Player) eating up all the memory.  Another reason I loaded Windows is because my son likes to play computer games.  So far so good.  No complaints!

Just one piece of advice, if you hate the idea of Windows on Mac.  At the very least, use Firefox.  Firefox runs way faster on my MBP or iMac than Safari.  8)

This is one fast iMac!

I run windows vista and 7 on my mac pro and XP on my MBP but for games that run on both Mac and Windows, mac osx will achieve a FPS 2-3x higher than windows.   I would hope that the more recent games would close that gap.     I do still prefer Mac OSX and find my self using windows less and less ever year.

It will be interesting to see what your son does by the end of the year with the Mac App store coming very soon.  Microsoft better have something up their sleeves otherwise I think Windows will be left behind.

BTW, check out steam for games to run on both platforms

Levi,
Might want to give Google Chrome a try under OSX.  On my Linux and Windows system Chrome is faster than either firefox or ie.

I am currently testing Google Chrome with my MBP and it looks like it is snappier than Firefox.  Goodbye Safari and Safari Plug-in.  So far so good.  We shall see how the Chrome works specially on websites designed for IE and Firefox.  Chrome kind of reminds me of Firefox.

I know Chrome has been around for a year or two.  Not much of an early adopter.

Thanks Deepak!  :thumb:

You are welcome.  I believe Chrome initial code base came from Mozilla project.  The only place that I use IE or Firefox is at work since Chrome is not a supported browser.  Google just came out with central management which will help it get into support browser mode.
