It is a chore. I use PrintBureau and I use the HP print app. I don't have an Apple-approved HP printer.

Oh yeah, I forgot! I installed Printopia on my desktop Mac. If the Mac is running (it's right next to the printer), Printopia does it just fine. Simple printing, however, not choices of trays, etc. Worth 10 bucks in my estimation. It's less of a chore but still a chore.

Who is using the native iPad wireless printing? Curious to know how it is.

I haven't been able to get it to work at my house. Apparently my printer does not support "AirPrint", so I'm out of luck. Hopefully I can find a 3rd party app that will acknowledge my Epson printer.

AirPrint Activator (the new version of the defunct Hactivator) let's you print to any printer on your network. Caveat is it needs to be loaded on another computer on your network that will act as a print client, and this machine needs to be on while printing from the ipad. Not a problem if you have a machine that stays on 24/7 (media library, etc.).

Installs easy and works great. You can also print from an iPhone and iPod Touch as well. Install at your own risk.

To use AirPrint seamlessly, you have to use one of the new, AirPrint-ready printers from HP, and given my last two experiences with HP printers, that's not likely to happen in this house.  If I need to print from my Touch, I'll try Crimson's approach, but I do so little printing anyway, that it's just as easy for me to do it from one of the other computers.

We gave up on the idea of iPad printing.  My 14yr old son said to put it face down on a copier.

I've used airprint on those new HP printers and it worked reasonably well but for serious stuff, you will still need to use a computer.    My very old laserjet still has another 10 years left in her, so I will just wait for the next airprint update so I can utilize a network printer share.

My 1995 16/600 Apple printer has at least that left!

If you have a printer hooked up to a PC there is also a windows app to enable airprint. I use it and print with my iPod touch 4th gen.
