VR-22
« on: 29 Dec 2010, 11:51 pm »
So this new speaker...
Can we get more info on it? What i am really interested in is:
1) How many (and what) drivers?
2) Is it a 2-way or a 3-way?
3) Is the woofer facing forward or back?
4) What are its dimensions?

Thanx!

From what I gathered in the interview a two way with a 1" tweeter and an 8" woofer. My guess is it will be on the large side maybe 10" to 11" in width maybe 14" tall and 16" deep? I'm also guessing it will be Aperiodically loaded like the VR-1s and LCR-15s for placement flexibility and be rather heavy.

I'm crossing my fingers that it will come in a fair lick below $2,000.

damn.. i was so hoping for a big-ass 3-way bookshelf. Like a VS version of yamaha,
with like a 4 inch midrange or something..

Yes, I am VERY interested in this as well.   Is it another column like the V33?  Or a stand mounted model?   Is it weeks away from release or years?

Any info at all would be very much appreciated.

They will fit in a large bookshelf since the crossover can be switched. :icon_lol:

If these are a 'smaller VR-33' might they not be a tall column?

Think Vandersteen 1C or DCM Time Window (to name another speaker inspired in part by the DQ-10).

Have a look at the Unifield One, the best standmount monitor I know.
Very impressive, read the reviews.

Oh the U2 definitely qualifies as a big ass monitor

It's 7 grand though, the price of a VR-35. I see people with small rooms choosing them over 35s or even VR-4jrs but the Unifields really are for smaller rooms (e.g. Europe, Asia and highly urbanized US cities)

My son has the Unifield 2 in a smallish room in his house and I have to say it is the best nearfield system I have ever heard.  The Uni 2 is a triumph to be sure.

I'm new at Audio Circle but I see this is not an 'on topic' kind of place.

I'll unsubscribe from this thread.

Kind of hard to stay on topic about something that hasn't been made yet. I do wonder what the final product will be like.

Like this prototype from 2007/2008 perhaps?

This looks like the proto Uni One, which was finally made with the seas coax, Jack.

Yes it is Cor :) The proto was a large standmount. It looked like an 8" woofer.
